Plant dusting glove

Plant dusting gloves are an essential part of your houseplant care regime. When you give your plants a regular wipe over you will be doing several things at once:

  1. Promote photosynthesis: Dusty leaves can block sunlight from reaching the plant’s leaves and hinder the process of photosynthesis, which is crucial for the plant’s growth.
  2. Prevents pest infestation: Dusty leaves can attract pests like spider mites, which can harm the plant and spread to other plants in your home.
  3. Improves air quality: Dusty leaves can accumulate dirt, dander and other allergens, reducing the air quality in your home. Removing the dust from your plants can help improve the air quality and make your home a healthier place to live.
  4. Enhances aesthetic appeal: A buildup of dust on the leaves of indoor plants can make them look dull and unattractive. Regularly removing the dust can help keep the plants looking their best and enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of your home.

When you regularly dust indoor plants you can help keep them healthy, prevent pest infestations, improve air quality, and enhance their appearance.

For best results, make sure the glove is slightly damp. Support the underside of the leaf and wipe from the stem to the tip. Don’t squish it too firmly between your hands: have the palms and fingers flat to avoid pinching and ripping any part of the leaf. You don’t need to scrub. If there is an item stuck to the leaf, just dampen that spot a little and wait for it to soften and slide off with the glove.

Once the glove looks grubby, toss it in the washing machine and hang to dry. Don’t use fabric softener. The tiny fibres in the glove will absorb the waxy residue that fabric softener and dryer sheets leave behind.
